Former Arsenal striker van Persie returns to Feyenoord: Coach for Brentford target Bozenik
Last summer, former Arsenal and Manchester United forward Robin van Persie retired as a player at Feyenoord Rotterdam. The record goalscorer of the Dutch national team now returns to his former club. In the future, the 36-year-old will work as a striker coach in the staff of manager Dick Advocaat, as the latter announced at a press conference after his side’s 7-1 win over NAC Breda in the TOTO KNVB beker on Thursday night.
“The plan is that van Persie works with the forwards,” Advocaat, who approached the former Gunner with the proposal himself and got positive feedback, said. Van Persie is supposed to work primarily with €4 million winter signing Robert Bozenik. The 20-year-old Slovakia international, who was also wanted by Brentford in January, was directly involved in five goals in five matches so far. Advocaat is understood to still see a lot of potential and room for improvement in the young striker, however.
