Wenig später fuhren in Roman Bürki und Marcel Schmelzer die letzten beiden Spieler nach Hause. Während Schmelzer seine Karriere beendet, zieht es Bürki in die USA. „Ich gehe am 1. Juni rüber und werde zunächst in der zweiten Mannschaft von St. Louis spielen. Ich freue mich auf dieses Abenteuer“, sagte Bürki im Gespräch mit den Ruhr Nachrichten. Den Dortmunder Neustart wird der langjährige Stammtorhüter aus der Entfernung verfolgen.
Die erste Profi-Saison mit St.Louis als Teil der MLS startet ja erst im kommenden Frühjahr 2023.Das wird dann offenbar seine vorrübergehende Aufenthaltsstation (in dem US-Ligasystem Stufe 3 "MLS Next Pro", hinter MLS und USL):
