Norwich City sign Werder's Milot Rashica - Fee above market value

After being relegated to 2. Bundesliga, Werder Bremen, have sold one of their prized assets and generated much-needed cash. The Grün-Weißen have confirmed that they have sold Milot Rashica to Norwich City. The Premier League club have also confirmed the deal. The 24-year-old forward with a market value of €9 million was the second most valuable player in Werder's squad; he will now receive a contract until 2025 at Norwich City. According to Sky Sports UK, the fee is in the region of €11 million. 

Eintracht Frankfurt were among the clubs also interested in Rashica, whose market value dropped by €26 million over the last 18 months. Just last summer, Bayer Leverkusen failed to sign the winger on deadline day for a fee above €20 million. Nonetheless, Rashica will become one of the ten most expensive player sales in Werder's club history. 

Werder Bremen transfer Rashica: "Was below his expectations" in 2020/21

"Milot told us some time ago that he wants to leave the club and make the next step in his career," Werder Bremen CEO Frank Baumann said in a club statement. "He has developed well over the last three years, even if many injuries meant that he stayed below his expectations last season. We always said that as long the parameters of a transfer are fulfilled, we would let him leave. That is now the case, and we are happy with the solution. The transfer is an important step towards our financial stability."

Rashica joined Werder in the winter of 2018 for €7 million from Vitesse Arnhem and, after a mixed first half-season, managed to impress. In 100 games, the Kosovan national team player was involved in 46 goals directly. His contract would have expired next summer. “I’m really excited to play in front of the Norwich fans and in the Premier League," Rashica said in a Norwich City club statement. I will, of course, give my best to this football club in every game and hope to excite the fans with many goals and assists. I can’t wait to get started."
