Radonjić joins Hertha Berlin - Winger arrives from Olympique Marseille
After missing out on Werder Bremen's Milot Rashica, Hertha Berlin have found their winger at Olympique Marseille instead. As reported by kicker, Nemanja Radonjić is on the verge of joining the club from the German capital.
Update 18:00 GMT: Hertha confirmed the transfer on Monday afternoon. "The talks I had with the club were very positive," Radonjić said in a club statement. "The Bundesliga is one of the top leagues in Europe. I want to show as soon as possible that I am a good addition for Hertha. I'm really looking forward being at the club and alongside my new teammates."
The 24-year-old Serbian will join Hertha on loan; the Bundesliga club can make the transfer permanent. Fighting relegation, the club from the capital will pay a significant six-figure fee, which can grow through bonus payments. Hertha can make the deal permanent for an additional €12 million.
Altogether the deal is significant above Radonjić's market value, which is €4.5 million. Marseille paid €12 million to Crvena zvezda for the winger in the summer of 2018. But the two-footed forward has been unable to impress in France. In 62 games, he scored eight goals and three assists.
