Following the group updates for the EURO 2020, Transfermarkt.ru has given all 400 players from the Russian Premier Liga an overall update. European Championship players from the Sbornaya as well as Jordan Larsson and Grzegorz Krychowiak have already been updated over the past days and are therefore no longer included. Otherwise, Larsson would be among the top winners with his plus of €4 million.

In the 2020/21 season, the trend of market values in Russia continues to be the same - the league is stagnating. This is best seen in champions Zenit St. Petersburg. Despite the third consecutive title, the squad value remains at €170 million. Among the team's winners is Sardar Azmoun, who is now worth a career-high €25 million (+ €2 million). The Iranian attacker is said to be heavily courted by Sevilla FC. The two Brazilians, Douglas Santos (now €16 million) and Wendel (€17 million) are also among the update winners with a plus of €2 million each.

On the other hand, two other South American offensive forces of Zenit register a minus due to their performance. Sebastián Driussi is the biggest loser in the league with a devaluation of €2.5 million. His value now falls to €7.5 million, the lowest during his time at Zenit. A departure in the summer is becoming more and more likely. 40-million-euro purchase Malcolm also repeatedly struggled with injuries last season and could never match his best performances. At €22 million, his value has almost dropped by half since his move to Russia.

Surprise team Rubin Kazan: Abildgaard biggest winner

Among the winners of the update is Rubin Kazan. The surprise team of the season has achieved its best ranking in nine years under head coach Leonid Slutski and will once again be represented internationally. Consequently, the club's best players all receive upgrades. The biggest winner, both on the team and in the league, is Danish international Oliver Abildgaard (€7 million), with an increase of €4 million. The defensive midfielder advanced to become one of the best players in his position in Russia, narrowly missing out on a European Championship nomination. He also recorded the biggest gain in percentage terms (+133%).

The value of shooting star Khvicha Kvaratskhelia continues to rise. The best dribbler in the league is said to be aiming for a move as early as this summer. Both Sevilla and Atalanta have already expressed interest. The young Georgian's value, meanwhile, increased by a further 3 million after the interim update in April: at €18 million, he now belongs to the top 5 in the league.

CSKA's Nikola Vlasic remains in first place in the rankings with €30 million. However, after a mixed season and missing out on the European Cup, the team loses a total of €6.9 million in squad value for the first time in 20 years. Moscow's play has been very dependent on Vlasic's performances. This was particularly evident in the last three games of the season when the attacking midfielder was out injured. Twelve players are devalued due to age or performance, including Fedor Chalov (-€1 million to 10 million), Ilzat Akhmetov (-€1 million to 4), Arnór Sigurdsson (-1 million to 4.5) and Igor Diveev (-€1 million to 5).

Premier League update: FK Krasnodar squad value falls below €100 million mark

FK Krasnodar had an even worse season and that after making its debut in the Champions League. Even a change of coach in the season finale could not change much about the worst ranking since 2013 (to the Premier League table). As a result, the squad value falls by €12.4 million, leaving only three teams in the league valued at over €100 million. Down €2 million each are Rémy Cabella (to 9 million) and Shapi Suleymanov (to €6 million). In Cabella's case, age is the main factor, while Suleymanov has been chasing his former form for over a year and has only been used sporadically of late.

Other winners of the update include Fedor Smolov, Pablo and François Kamano of Lokomotiv Moscow, who made a significant contribution to the successful second half of the season. Loko jumped from eighth place after 15 matchdays to third place at the end of the season, narrowly missing out on qualification for the Champions League. Kamano's value went up by €1.5 million to €6.5 million, his first upgrade in two years. Smolov (€6 million), Pablo (€9 million), Daniil Kulikov (€2.5 million) and Dmitri Rybchinskiy (€2.5 million) each get a €1 million rise. Anton Miranchuk, on the other hand, is devalued by 2 to €12 million and falls out of the top 5 most valuable Russian players. The reasons for this are ongoing injury problems and the loss of his place in the starting eleven to Rifat Zhemaletdinov. As a result, he was also not considered for the European Championship.

The Transfermarkt market values are calculated, taking into account various pricing models. A major factor is the Transfermarkt community, whose members discuss and evaluate player market values in detail. In general, the Transfermarkt market values are not to be equated with transfer fees. The goal is not to predict a price but an expected value of a player in a free market. Both individual transfer modalities and situational conditions are relevant in determining market values. Examples of this are listed below. Transfermarkt does not use an algorithm (you can find the detailed market value definition here).
