Market values Kazakhstan: Vágner Love downgraded - Barseghyan first
After the national team break and following the first half of the Kazakh Premier Liga, Transfermarkt.ru has updated all market values of the first division of the Central Asian country.
FC Astana, under Russian coach Andrey Tikhonov, are playing a surprisingly strong season. The club has recorded 34 points out of the first 34 games and are clear at the top of the table. Aside from a good defense, which has added €100,000 to Varazdat Haroyan's market value (€900,000), the defender moves on to FC Cádiz—the attack organized around Abzal Beysebekov, Marin Tomasov, and Tigran Barseghyan have also been impressive.
While Croatian Tomasov, who has been involved in 16 goals across 13 games, sees his market value downgraded by €1 million due to his age, his teammates have seen their market values go up. Formerly a right-back, Beysebekov has been converted to midfield, where he has been excellent with his passes and spectacular goals; he received a plus of €200,000 to now €1.4 million.
The biggest winner of the update is Armenian dribbler Barseghyan, who has excelled both for the national team and his club. With interest from European clubs growing, his market value has been adjusted by €500,000 to now €2.5 million; enough to surpass Jacek Goralski (-€200,000 to €2.3m) from Kairat Almaty to take the position as the most valuable player in the league.
Mamba and Vágner Love downgraded - League overall drops
Last year's champions Kairat Almaty have had a disappointing season and are currently ten points behind Astana in third place. Furthermore, head coach Aleksey Shpilevski has left the club for 2.Bundesliga side Erzgebirge Aue. As a result, defender Rade Dugalic (-€500,000 to €1.7m) and striker Aderinsola Habib Eseola (-€900,000 to €800,000) saw their market values drop. In Streli Mamba and Vágner Love, two former stars were also in focus.
In particular, Mamba, who was signed in January for €700,000 from Paderborn, has struggled. He has lost a third of his market value and now stands at €800,000. For Vágner Love, age was a major factor. Despite a good season, the striker drops below €1 million to now €750,000.
The age structure of many clubs with many players aged 30 and older and a dropping league level overall means that altogether the market values of the Premier Liga have dropped. In comparison to last season, the league has lost 10% of its market value, around €110 million.
The Transfermarkt market values are calculated, taking into account various pricing models. A major factor is the Transfermarkt community, whose members discuss and evaluate player market values in detail. In general, the Transfermarkt market values are not to be equated with transfer fees. The goal is not to predict a price but an expected value of a player in a free market. Both individual transfer modalities and situational conditions are relevant in determining market values. Examples of this are listed below. Transfermarkt does not use an algorithm (you can find the detailed market value definition here).
