Man City defender Angeliño joins RB Leipzig - possible profit of over £14 million
“We couldn’t reach a final agreement,” Leipzig sporting director Markus Krösche told Sky on the failed transfer of Freiburg centre-back Robin Koch on Friday night. He hinted at RB Leipzig possibly strengthening their defence nonetheless, however.
Update 17:15: RB Leipzig have confirmed the signing of Man City left-back Angeliño on a loan deal running until the end of the season. According to Sky Sports, the Bundesliga club have an option to buy the player for £25 million in the summer.
According to German outlet Bild, the Bundesliga frontrunners are in advanced talks to sign Manchester City left-back Angeliño (photo).
Angeliño was sold to PSV Eindhoven in the summer of 2018 for £4.95 million. But the Citizens exercised their £10.8 million buy-back option last summer. But Angeliño has struggled for game time this season and the 23-year-old is now on the verge of joining Leipzig on a loan deal until the end of the season.
City originally signed the former U-21 international, who still has a contract running until 2023, in 2013. Angeliño made 13 appearances for the club in all competitions this season.
