Colorado Rapids sign Nicolas Benezet - $450,000 transfer fee?
Colorado Rapids have signed Nicolas Benezet the club announced Tuesday. According to a report in the French media outlet L'Equipe earlier this month, the Rapids have paid $450,000 to Guincamp for the 28-year-old.
Update Jan. 14: “We’re delighted to add to our attack someone of Nicolas’ quality,” said Pádraig Smith, Colorado Rapids Executive Vice President & General Manager in an official club statement. “He’s a goal-dangerous, dynamic player who excels out wide, while also offering us positional depth with his ability to play multiple positions in attack.”
Benezet joined Toronto FC in July 2019 on loan from French side EA Guingamp until the end of the year. In his six months with TFC, Benezet played 13 games, scoring three goals.
The Rapids will send $50,000 General Allocation Money to Toronto FC for his rights, as well as a further $50,000 GAM if Benezet starts 75 percent of all games in 2020.
