Alphonso Davies most valuable in Concacaf - Giovanni Reyna and Tyler Adams gain
On Wednesday the Bundesliga became the first major European league to receive a market value update. The focus in this update was on young players without a previous market value, players that are in high demand on the transfer market, and stars that have stood out since the coronavirus break. Three North American stars were also part of the update. Alphonso Davies, Giovanni Reyna, and Tyler Adams all saw their market value growth since the restart.
The biggest winner is Canadian Alphonso Davies. The Canadian will have added further fuel to who is the hottest player currently coming from the Concacaf region. For now, Davies leads the pack. The 19-year-old saw his market value grow by €15 million and is now worth €60 million. That ranks Davies ahead of American Christian Pulisic (€54m) and Mexican Raúl Jiménez (€40m).
Pulisic and Jiménez, however, play in the Premier League, which will have a market value update later this summer. Given Pulisic's recent performances, there is a chance that the American will reclaim the top spot or that Jiménez, who has been in phenomenal form as well could surpass Davies. The race between Davies and Pulisic, in particular, has been intriguing, the American is two years older than the Canadian and had a market value of €45 million in a pre-coronavirus environment when he was 19 years old.
Reyna steps out of the shadow - Adams market value grows
Without a doubt, Davies' development has been phenomenal. But he is not the only Concacaf player that has stood out in the Bundesliga since the restart. At Borussia Dortmund, a young American is quickly stepping out of the post-Pulisic's shadow.
Seventeen-year-old Giovanni Reyna burst onto the season after the winter break and has featured in 18 games for Borussia Dortmund's first team. Against Werder Bremen, in February he became the youngest scorer in DFB Pokal history, and against RB Leipzig on matchday 33 he recorded his first assist. As a result, the 17-year-old sees his market value grow from €13.5 million to now €15 million, which makes him the tenth most valuable U18 player on the planet.
Also on the up is RB Leipzig midfielder, Tyler Adams. The 21-year-old midfielder is often highlighted whenever RB Leipzig talk about the integration of New York Red Bulls in the club's feeder chain. Adams' transition from Major League Soccer to the Bundesliga appeared at first seamless until injuries slowed the young American down. Finally, in the Rückrunde, and, in particular, since the coronavirus break, Adams' body stabilized allowing him more regular playing time and, as a result, his market value increased from €11.5 million to now €14 million.
