Philadelphia Union make Julián Carranza deal permanent - Inter Miami CF receive GAM & futures

Philadelphia Union have permanently signed Designated Player (DP) Julián Carranza from Inter Miami CF. Previously, on loan, the Union sent $500,000 in General Allocation Money ($250,000 in 2023 and $250,000 in 2024) to Miami. The Beckham-owned club will also receive a percentage of any future transfer. 

“We brought Julian in because we believed his work rate and intelligence would be a strong fit for our aggressive style of play, and we are very happy with how quickly he has adapted,” Union sporting director Ernst Tanner said in a club statement. “His goalscoring has been vital to the team’s success thus far, and we expect him to maintain the high level he has shown as the season progresses.”

Carranza has been a revelation since he was brought in on loan from Inter Miami ahead of the season. The 22-year-old has scored seven goals and three assists in 17 games across all competitions. With Carranza's career back on track the Union felt comfortable making him one of the club's ten most expensive signings (overview).

Carranza to Philadelphia - Inter Miami receive "funds to continue building a roster" for the future

The Argentine was initially signed for $6 million, which remains one of the six most expensive transfers in Inter Miami's club history (overview). Carranza, however, never managed to fulfill his potential at the club, and with Inter Miami's salary cap struggles, sporting director Chris Henderson needed to move pieces to reconstruct the roster. “This transaction gives us additional funds to continue building a roster that helps us reach our objectives moving forward,” Henderson said in a club statement.
