New York Red Bulls sell Kemar Lawrence - Joins Jupiler Pro League side Anderlecht

Major League Soccer side New York Red Bulls have agreed to sell left-back Kemar Lawrence to Jupiler Pro League side RSC Anderlecht, according to a report by ProSoccerUSA.com.  

Lawrence transfer is pending on the 27-year-old passing his medical before the winter transfer window closes on Friday. The Jamaican national team player will join former teammate Michael Murillo, who joined the club in December. 

Sources told ProSoccerUSA.com that the transfer fee is expected to be $1.5 million. Major League Soccer will receive 25%, which leaves the Red Bulls with $1.1 million. $750,000 can be used for General Allocation Money. 

Should personal terms and medical paperwork get completed before the Belgium transfer window closes Friday, the Jamaican international will join Panamanian international Michael Amir Murillo, who was transferred to Anderlecht in December.

Sources say the transfer fee is about $1.5 million, with the Red Bulls receiving $1.1 million after the league gets its 25 percent. $750,000 can be used for General Allocation Money. The Athletic was the first to report the story Thursday afternoon, their numbers, however, suggested a deal around $1.25 million. 

Either way, the Red Bull will receive less than Lawrence's market value from RSC Anderlecht. The 27-year-old saw his market value grow from $2 million to $2.28 million in the latest market value update published in November. 

Lawrence earned $382,749 in guaranteed compensation last year, according to the MLS Players Association Salary Guide. Lawrence sought a new deal after Tim Parker ($752,200) and Aaron Long ($800,000) signed new contracts and when his request was ignored asked for a trade.
