Andy Nájar returns to D.C. United - Eight years after his departure
Major League Soccer side D.C. United have signed Andy Nájar on a free transfer. The 28-year-old returns to his former after eight years. Nájar played 87 games (ten goals and nine assists) for the MLS side from 2010 to 2013. Nájar then spent seven years at RSC Anderlecht before joining Los Angeles FC in 2020.
“We are thrilled to welcome Andy back to D.C. United, his hometown club,” said D.C. United president of soccer operations Dave Kasper in a club statement. “He made an immediate impact on the team and city when he rose through the ranks of the Academy and signed his first professional contract in 2010. He had a stellar career in Europe, where he made over 150 appearances at the elite level for Anderlecht and at only 28-years-old, he still can make a major impact for our team.
Nájar was not the only transaction by D.C. United on Friday. The Washington-based club also signed Antonio Alfaro after acquiring his priority rights from the Seattle Sounders for a second-round pick in the 2022 MLS SuperDraft and future considerations.
